Superior Rigging & Erecting Co., with locations in Atlanta and Orlando, aided with the installation of a recently unveiled statue, depicting Martin Luther King Jr., at the Georgia Capitol grounds in Atlanta. The 8-foot bronze monument was unveiled at 10 a.m. on August 28, the 54th anniversary of King’s legendary “I Have a Dream” speech.
The statue stands on the state Capitol grounds gazing slightly toward the Atlanta boulevard that bears the name of King, according to a U.S. News and World Report article.
The statue is the first new monument on Georgia Capitol grounds in 20 years and King will be the first African-American memorialized at the statehouse, according to WABE-FM.
"The King statue will inspire and give hope to generations to come," said state Rep. Calvin Smyre, according to WABE-FM.
