Northwest Arkansas Musicians Craft Original Holiday Song to Celebrate Season

Local Musicians Collaborated to Create an Original Christmas Song, Celebrating Goodwill and Community

Jerrod Mounce, songwriter and member of local band, Bottlerocket, has written an original Christmas song which celebrates the season and appreciates the beauty and fellowship in everyday life, often taken for granted. The song is entitled “Beautiful World” and is inspired by the transient nature of life and the pervasive kindness of humanity that is often overlooked in public dialogue.

“Christmas songs are naturally a ‘break’ from the buzz of frustration, argument, divisiveness and noise,” Mounce said. “They bring us together, and that’s what I wanted this song to be – togetherness.”

Mounce desired to create a song that reminds listeners that there is more love and beauty in the world than sometimes realized and how stepping back, and looking from a distance, can often change a person’s view and how they approach and appreciate a moment.

“Not to discount real problems that exist, but we tend to accentuate the negative and take so much of the good for granted,” Mounce said.

Mounce was inspired by a vision of a single snowflake falling from a peaceful night sky; experiencing the earth lit by Christmas lights before melting away. Mounce interprets the vision as an exemplar of human life and the short time people have to appreciate the world.

Mounce wasn’t certain, once written, what to do with the song, if anything, but decided to share the song as a Christmas gift to the community. He reached out to friends and family and the song was assembled in a relatively short time.

“I reached out to my great musician friends in Northwest Arkansas and they answered the call like family, helping me spread the word and volunteering their Saturday morning,” Mounce said.

“Beautiful World” was recorded by Darren Crisp, of Crisp Recording Studio, and videography was produced by Ted Runnels, with Mockingdog Productions. The song includes vocals of twenty adults and children, including Mounce’s daughter and brother.

Song collaborators include: Jeremy Treat, Samantha Hunt, Steve Dimmit, Jes Anthony, Kendra Lane, Jeff Fox, Wes Hart, John Grau, John Silva, Amanda Rey, Kevin Custer, Derek Champagne, Emily Champagne, Addison Richman, Ashtyn Richman, Brooklyn Woodruff, Bryan Mounce, Molly Mounce and more.

“There really was a feeling of togetherness and joy and unity as we all learned and performed the song together,” Mounce said.
