VAN BUREN, Ark., March 20, 2018 (Newswire.com) - Jessica Odom and Theresa Gilstrap from Generations Bank's Van Buren branch attended a State Government Event for Leadership Crawford County at the Arkansas State Capital in Little Rock.
Leadership Crawford County (LLC) is an organization that is dedicated to cultivating, connecting and engaging leaders in working together for community excellence, pride, and progress. Participants come from a variety of backgrounds, ages, and professions and will be exposed to the opportunities, realities, and challenges of the county and the region.
This meeting was for their monthly Leadership class, to give them an opportunity to have a better understanding of how the State Government Works. They were able to meet Governor Asa Hutchinson and several other state representatives and senators.
When asked about the experience Theresa Gilstrap said “There are good people in our government that do want to make things better for Arkansans. There is so much more to state government that the average layperson is not aware of. I feel that this was an eye-opening experience for me.”
Both Jessica and Theresa were able to learn more about the state government and enjoy their time at the capital. They learned how a bill gets passed, the job duties of elected officials and the history of the state capital.
“They made a huge impression and helped change my opinion in many different areas. I now know there are politicians out there who care about our communities, the State of Arkansas, and the people,” stated Jessica Odom shortly after her visit.
