Fort Smith, Arkansas , February 22, 2018 (Newswire.com) - Dr. Charles Liggett, of River Valley Smile Center, a leading dental practice in Fort Smith, Ark., traveled to Saint Elizabeth Parish, Jamaica, with a team of dental and medical professionals, to provide dental and health services to the underprivileged population. Liggett has traveled to Jamaica on 18 separate occasions to provide dental services to poor and underprivileged communities.
The team of professionals included dentists, medical personnel, hygienists and lab technicians. The amalgamation included members from Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Arizona and Arkansas. The group was able to treat more than 1000 patients: pulling more than 750 teeth, making more than 150 dentures, performing more than 150 teeth cleanings and servicing various health issues, from high blood pressure to optometrical needs.
Liggett graduated from Louisiana State University, School of Dentistry, in New Orleans, where he earned a Doctorate in Dental Surgery. Liggett has been community-oriented throughout his professional career: founding the Weekend Dental Clinic and Free Extraction Day (which provides those in need with free or affordable dental care), organizing discussions for the local dental community to better recognize and prevent child abuse and neglect and more.
